Paul Archbold joined the IMR as Director in August 2011. He is a composer, specialising in the composition of virtuoso instrumental music and works for instrument and live electronics. He has collaborated with the film-maker Colin Still to create documentaries examining the working relationship between composers and performers. Paul Archbold is Reader in music at Kingston University London.

Valerie James joined the IMR as Administrator in March 2006. After undertaking research at Oxford on 17th century French history, she has enjoyed a varied administrative career in the public and the not for profit sectors. In 2004 she co-edited the Bede Roll of the Parish Clerks' fraternity for the London Record Society, a text which throws light on local, ecclesiastical and musical history. She is (from 1 October 2010) Consortium Administrative Manager for the IMR, the Institute of Germanic & Romance Studies and the Institute of Philosophy and together with the Consortium team is responsible for all aspects of administration.
