I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the IMR as a British Academy Visiting Fellow. Alongside a collegial network and corresponding library resources, the Institute's rich, varied program of workshops and lectures offered endless opportunities for scholarly exchange and contacts (Roe-Min Kok, Assistant Professor, McGill University, Canada)
Visiting researchers are most welcome at the IMR. They are encouraged to take an active part in the life of the Institute: to give lectures and talks, to help organise seminars, and to contribute to the Institute’s research training programme.
Scholars wishing to be based at the Institute for short periods (typically one to four months) are encouraged to contact the Director regarding non-stipendiary Visiting Fellowships. These Fellowships are subject to a bench fee of £90 per month (rising to £100 per month from October 2011) to cover essential computing and other costs during the Fellow's residence.
The Institute offers other non-stipendiary Fellowships designed for independent, emeritus and early career researchers. These Fellowships offer library access and discounted or free entry to IMR events, but no office space or other infrastructural support. Applications for these Fellowships are submitted to at least one member of the Advisory Council for comment.
